Abstrak

The development of Sufism in Indonesia has revealed the emergence of several groups whose perspectives are not fully aligned with the principles of Islamic Sharia. Some of these Sufi groups claim to have reached the station of haqiqa (ultimate reality), which they believe exempts them from the obligation to follow the sharia. To justify this view, they often refer to the Qur’anic story of the encounter between Prophet Musa (Moses) and Prophet Khidr, where Prophet Khidr appears to act contrary to sharia due to his understanding of haqiqa. This study aims to examine the concept of the relationship between sharia and haqiqa within this narrative and its implications for Sufi perspectives in Indonesia. The research utilizes a qualitative method with a literature review approach, focusing on primary and secondary sources related to interpretations of the stories of Musa and Khidr, as well as Sufi concepts. A relevant example in Indonesia includes the emergence of certain spiritual groups that claim that attaining the station of haqiqa releases them from sharia obligations. This view has sparked controversy among the Muslim community, which generally views Sharia as the primary and inseparable foundation of the Islamic spiritual journey. The results of this study indicate that the concept of the relationship between sharia, tariqa (spiritual path), and haqiqa is an integral unity essential for attaining ma'rifat (gnosis) of the Allah SWT. Actions seemingly contrary to Sharia, as exemplified by Prophet Khidr, are unique exceptions granted to him, as his actions were based on divine revelation. Furthermore, the story of Musa and Khidr reflects the principle that, when confronted with two options that both result in negative consequences, the action chosen should be the one with the least harm. Preliminary conclusions from this research indicate that spiritual claims to abandon sharia on the grounds of attaining haqiqa lack a strong basis in Islamic tradition. The concept of haqiqa in Islam requires adherence to Sharia as a fundamental foundation for spiritual development.
